act conformity to the blessed example of Christ are bevond the reach of men, vet itis a great benefit to men to have such a rule of life and to endeavour to act in accordance therewith. The very effort to reach such excellence pro­motes virtue, trengthens good dispositions, and conduces to the practice of all good works.

Besides, when men command any thing to he done, they aive the command merely, not also strensth to obey the command 5 but God Is so full of grace, that when Ife eues a command He bestows also the race that Is required for fulfilling His command. To all who ask im for strength to enable them to act up to the Christian religion, Ife will give that streneth, le has graciously said,Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ve shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you; and thus has caconraged men to pray for Mis grace and promised to grant it to them.

Dear friends! Is it not your duty to leave the way of sin and to come into the good way, the way of virtue* Be not deceived. Leave the road that leads to destruction, and eater into the narrow way that lead to heaven. Your own conscience testifies to you that Christianity is the true divine religion. Why then do you not embrace it# Some are hindered from cmbracing it by their reluctance to abandon the vices that it condemns, others by their disinelination for the righteousness which it enjoins. Many are hindered by pride of caste or by the fear of the world. Instead of viving way, however, to these obstacles, you should resolve, putting your trust in the help of God, to overcome them. It will be to your own advantage if vou listen to the good
