Solomon asked not for wealth but for wisdom; an God was so pleased with him on this account, that he granted him not only much wisdom but also much wealth and prosperity. Thus, the things that all men need first are wisdom and the favour of God. When they have acquired these blessings all worldly benefits will be added to them. It is therefore a mi-take for people to think that they can obtain such prosperity as the white men enjoy without entering upon the way of wisdom in which they walk. In order to prosper like them, people must become intellicent and truthful like them, and in order to become intelligent and truthful like them, they must like
them abandon idols and seek the favour of the true God.
Dear friends, why are you walking along the road that leads to the jungle, whilst you profess to be going to the Presidency® Why do you adhere to a degrading religion, whilst vou profess to be desirous of prosperity and honour? It surely cannot now be doubted that the true way is the way of prosperity 2 It is certain that Christianity largely promotes the learning and prosperity that pertain to this life. Is it not equally certain that those who embrace the Christian religion and truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, will obtain thereby heavenly learning and heavenly wealth? Listen therefore to the friendly advice which is given to you by the ministers of the Christian religion, that you may prosper both in this world and in the next.
