early conveyance their acknowledgement of the receipt thereof.
The residue of the money - after defraying the expenses
of the medicines – could be transmitted through the agency
of Mr. Gilbert v. d. Smissen of Altona, in whom we feel
disposed to place full confidence. Should these suggestions
meet with acceptance, the object in contemplation will
be accomplished without difficulty and embarrassment.
Should any exception, however, be taken to the
above plan which has been recommended – I trust that in
the mean time, the medicines will be forwarded - in ad-
dition to the few volumes specified – I deem it proper
here to state that if my life be spared – I shall
from time to time make application for medicines and for
a volume occasionally.
You would, my dear Sir, confer a distinguished favor
on myself and the Church of Ebenezer, should you find it con-
venient to have a search made among your literary archives
in order to ascertain whether any records in manuscript
or print exist, relative to the History of this place – any
incidental expenses would be cheerfully defrayed by us – for
the trouble of such investigations, or the transmitting of
documents that may be discovered – we have several
volumes of printed Journals – but they are very defective
in some parts. We have no accounts of the years 1744
